Meet Dr Jacob

Julie Jacob, M.D., FAAP, graduated as Salutatorian of Dover Jr./Sr. High School in New York and was directly accepted into an accelerated seven-year medical education program. After graduating with honors from Union College with a Bachelor of Science Degree and an Interdepartmental Degree in English Literature, Dr. Jacob went on to complete medical school at Albany Medical College, graduating in 1999. She then pursued a three-year pediatric residency at Stony Brook University Hospital and completed an additional three-year fellowship in developmental and behavioral pediatrics at Schneider Children’s Hospital-North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System (now known as Cohen Children’s Medical Center - Northwell Health). She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in both general pediatrics (since 2002) and developmental and behavioral pediatrics (since 2006) . Dr. Jacob has published case reports and articles and has been involved in content development for the national board exam through the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the Society For Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, and a member of the Texas Pediatric Society.

Dr. Jacob previously worked as an Attending Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician at Schneider Children’s Hospital in New York where she was involved in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of developmental and behavioral problems including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, learning disorders, speech/language disorders, motor delays, congenital/genetic disorders as well as evaluations of premature/high risk neonates. In addition, she was involved in academic research projects and the education of medical students, pediatric residents and developmental and behavioral fellows. Upon moving to the Dallas area, Dr. Jacob joined Dr. Lisa Genecov at Dallas Developmental Pediatrics/Medical City Children’s Hospital where she served in a similar role.

Dr. Jacob has spent time raising a family but is overjoyed to be able to once again, fill a great void in the community by offering developmental and behavioral pediatric services to the North Texas area. She lives in Frisco with her husband (Dr. Shibu Oommen, a Gastroenterologist with Baylor Scott and White) and two daughters. In her spare time, Dr. Jacob is involved with many local and international charities as well as her church. She enjoys reading, traveling, and being a “Dance Mom” as well as “Basketball Mom”.
