  • Do you accept insurance?

No. We are not "in network" with insurance carriers at his time. However, we will provide you with a billing statement and “Superbill” that you can submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement of the fees you incur. Depending on your insurance plan, you may qualify for “out of network” benefits. Please contact your insurance carrier for verification.

  • How old are the patients you treat?

We accept new patients from birth to 12 years of age. We follow established patients until 18 years of age.

  • What takes place during an initial consultation?

During the initial consultation, a comprehensive history is taken regarding your child’s medical, developmental, family and educational background. Reports from previous consultations are studied and additional evaluations ordered as needed. Your child’s learning patterns are assessed using standardized developmental testing tools and additional information gathered using parent/teacher surveys. A complete medical examination is conducted and laboratory tests/imaging studies ordered as needed. After all of the information is compiled and analyzed, a diagnosis and comprehensive treatment plan is generated. We then work closely with schools, teachers, therapists, psychologists, and counselors to tailor a program that best fits your child’s needs.

  • Will my child need additional evaluations from outside sources?

Possibly. Our consultation can help uncover whether close surveillance is sufficient or more comprehensive assessments are needed for your child. We partner with schools and other medical and/or community supports to create a complete picture of your child’s developmental needs and then help customize their program accordingly.

  • Do you prescribe medication if/when needed?

Yes. Dr. Jacob is a medical doctor and prescribes medications if/when warranted after comprehensive evaluation and mutual agreement by families.

  • Will you advocate for our child and help our family navigate specialty services?

Absolutely! Our priority is to help your child obtain timely and comprehensive services in order to achieve their highest potential. We take care in establishing relationships with community support programs so that we can partner with you to find the best options for your child’s individual needs.

  • Can you take over the general pediatric care of our child?

Although Dr. Jacob is also board certified in general pediatrics, her practice is focused completely on providing developmental and behavioral pediatric services to her patients. Your child should continue to follow with their pediatrician or primary care provider for immunizations, sick visits, well visits, and general medical care.

  • Are you available for calls after office hours?

In the case of emergency, you should call 911 immediately! For after hour questions regarding medications specifically prescribed by our practice, you can leave a message on our Medication Refill line or message us via our Patient Portal. Calls will be answered as soon as possible.
